It is a 100 mile round trip from Corran Ferry to Ardnamurchan Point on a mostly single track road. We arrived only to find a pothole which ruined a tyre and required a wheel change in the teeth of a gale and the wild Atlantic spray. So why go? Well the scenery even on a windy/wet March day with low... 更多
Definitely worth doing if you are visiting the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Tour only takes about 15 mins and you get a fantastic view over towards the islands of Muck, Eigg and Rum. A great location for spotting whales and dolphins (although all we saw was the Calmac ferry from Uist to Oban!). This is the most westerly point on the British... 更多
The cafe is situated next to the lighthouse and offers filled rolls, cakes and drinks. There is also a small gift shop. The views are amazing, overlooking the beach. You can walk up the light and on a clear day see the islands in the distance. Magic!
I am sure, how lovely a walk could be if the sun is shining - we enjoyed our hike on a rainy day as well. Have a break at the coffee shop!
Spent a week on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula and this was top of the list of places to visit. Weather was squally when we visited but this actually meant we had the lighthouse tour pretty much to ourselves. Missed a pod of 20+ dolphins by minutes and spent ages on the outer walkway of the lighthouse waiting for them to come... 更多
This has to be one of the most beautiful drives in the country, although it is single track roads with passing places it is worth it. The little cafe at the lighthouse is very good and the views are amazing.
The lighthouse museum entry is free. If you like to go up the lighthouse, it's possible, but a entry fee applies. If you are on the peninsula, it's a must visit.
Call me a big kid but I was so excited to go up to the top of a lighthouse and walk around outside. The guide was extremely informative and interesting, the views stunning and the cakes in the cafe very tasty. Yes there's a 1 lane road to get there but that's part of the adventure. Support this excellent small... 更多
Was it worth the drive ? To be honest I'm not sure but seems like a 'must do' if staying in the area. Great view out to sea and a little cafe serving drinks and cakes and then back down the scenic single track road.
Let's start with the 1-lane road it takes to get to the light house. It's a long drive, and if you have a husband like mine- who thinks he's a rally car driver, you'll understand why I say that I never let go of the "OH NO" handle in the car. All of the blind summits, going 50mph, HOPING there... 更多
