First time my partner and I decided to do a bit of bike riding and what a great experience we went from parrot to Washington which is about a 22km ride and then went back. A pretty gentle trail ride with a few people doing it. Fantastic ride along the river and nice little wonder round sleepy waihi
Fantastic trail. We hired electric bikes from Paeroa Sportsworld which turned out to be the best decision of the day. Not too hard to learn how to operate and made a big difference to our enjoyment of the day as we are not biking people normally.
We hired ebikes from Sportsworld in Paeroa (agents for jollybikes.co.nz) and spent the afternoon cycling from Paeroa to Waihi and back. We'd previously visited the Karangahake Gorge and the goldmines in the cliffs some time back (a really interesting and fun thing to do esp with kids) and thought it would be great to cycle through the gorge. It was... 更多
We rode Paeroa to Waihi and return on day 1, then on the second day Paeroa to Te Aroha and return. Both rides were relaxing and easy grades through totally different surroundings, we enjoyed both. If you have time, the Karangahake Gorge is worth investigating, in particular the Windows walk.
We tackled this with a school group in the middle of winter! Rained all the time, but the paths held up really well and would recommend using them if you think they would be flooded. Cycled from Thames to Waihi and the Gorge is the obvious highlight of the trip. If you have trouble with the bike there is few... 更多
What a fantastic trail, great to be able to bike along at your own pace away from the threat of cars. Plenty of scenery, places to stop along the way (can recommend lunch at the Ohinemuri Winery). Fun looking through the derelict gold mining site.
The Trail was flat, easy and goes through beautiful countryside. The Hauraki Rail Trail agents are well organised but the motels they sell you are horrible. The trail is great but I'm giving it 3 stars because of the accommodation. After cycling the trail you want/need a modern, comfortable, motel close to end of the trail or at least close... 更多
Great, flat biking - easy riding with lots of cafes along the way. We took 2.5 hours to get from Waihi to Paeroa with one kid on a crap bike and the rest of us on good bikes. Not too busy over Easter weekend but still a fair amount of traffic. Bring a lot of water as there are no... 更多
We were lucky enough to do this ride on a cool day when there were a few showers around, thus making it very quiet. The climb from Paeroa to Waikino is very gradual and not difficult. The surface was good considering it was course stone. The section from Waikino to Waihi was beautiful although the surface was a little rougher... 更多
