If at all possible, put a visit to the Normandy American Cemetery & Memorial at the top of your bucket list. It is by far the most moving experience of my entire life. What I grateful to those whose lives were lost before visiting the memorial? Absolutely. Did I truly understand their sacrifice and what it took to jump off... 更多
An oasis of peace and dignity for thousands of young men and women who gave their lives to help liberate Europe. Beautifully maintained, simple, and quiet. Excellent museum and very educational video commentary.
There is no better reminder of the courage and devotion required to win wars than the precisely aligned rows of over 9,400 grave markers on this hallowed piece of U.S. soil. If you are not familiar with the history of D-Day, the Visitor's Center provides a fine but high-level overview. Be sure to walk down to the beach to get... 更多
Despite poor weather when we were there you can not fail to be moved by visiting this memorial and cemetery to the American soldiers. It is immaculate and thought provoking given the harrowing story of our history that it tells. Don't miss the cinema and fantastic display which shares the full story of the war. Again thought provoking and so... 更多
I had to revisit this place. I came here as a child with my family, for my grandfather, who wished to pay his respects to his fallen comrades. It was heartbreaking and moving, but an overwhelming sense of respect and pride fills these tranquil grounds to bursting. The whole of the area is kept immaculate and beautiful. Everyone visiting here... 更多
This is such a beautiful and enormous place. It's thought provoking, reminiscent and picturesque. This is where they filmed the opening to Saving Private Ryan.
Was passing thru Normandy and wanted to understand a little more on D-Day. This place is a good balance of history and respect to those who gave their lives for freedom. Not to be missed if you are around the area!
We went as part of a private tour, and got there around 4:15. At 5:00 they lower the stars and stripes, and play taps. Very very moving. The honor and dignity of this place is overwhelming. I cannot see how anyone would miss this stop on a Normandy tour.
Heard various stories regarding the war and visited the sights, but nothing quite prepares you for the sight of these graves. A must see if traveling to Normandy.
They have a very nice museum here to explain the extent of the invasion of Normandy on 6 June 1944. You can then stroll over to the cemetery to pay your respects to the tremendous number of Americans who were killed at Normandy and were eventually buried here. It was quite emotional for both my wife and myself as we... 更多
going to the american cemetery is unreal. to think of all those soldiers that fought for our country and gave their lives for us...it was beautiful and amazing.
I was born after world war 2 , my father and six uncles all served , they all had close shaves and they all returned home safe. This memorial garden in a French field will remain a constant and heartening memory to all who visit. Many lost and never found many buried, many repatriated .all for our future. We owe... 更多
