We visited La Mongie on a beautiful day and were surrounded by awe-inspiring views of the Pyrenees. It was very hot. Unfortunately there was a lot of work being carried out with lots of dust and many places were closed. Clearly preparations for the tour de France.
Some donkeys roam freely and are very keen to make your acquaintance in the car park - will nose into your car boot looking for eats! A ski centre, so very touristy and prices to match, but some lovely walks in the summer.
The first time we visited this area we hit by the ugliness but thought no doubt it looks better in the snow. Went back again this year and it is still ugly but as we wanted to take the cable cars up the Pic du Midi we couldn't avoid it.
