The Lagavulin Warehouse Tasting is a must-do for any fan of Islay whisky. This is an in-depth, no-frills hour of tasting delight, led by one of the true Lagavulin characters (Ian, on our visit). Dress warmly, it's cold in the warehouse!
Took the walk from Port Ellen to Ardbeg stopping at the three distilleries en route. Visitor centre at lagavulin was small and dark. No greeting from staff as we came in or as we looked around the shop. We asked for our Friends of the classic malt passports to be stamped, this was done but with barely an acknowledgement from... 更多
Stopped here as a part of our whiskey tour. Walked in and the girl working the front desk was basically rude. Felt as if she could have cared less we were there. We were hear forte Jazz festival and went to two concerts. We returned to buy some whiskey . The shop and visitors centre are clearly lagging behind the other distilleries . We had a very very helpful lady at reception who gave us great advice on the whiskeys and tastings. Strangely unlike the other distilleries you are served them in... 更多
Wares experience is an opportunity to taste 5 drams just drawn from the cask, from 12 to more than 30yo at a reasonable price. One thing to improve is the size of glasses who are too small to really enjoy the drams. I've been there for 7 years and it really is a must-do during your stay on Islay.
Lovely wee distillery, the tour guide was excellent, she kept us engaged throughout, and the distillery itself was interesting. Lovely scenery around, and of course the dram at the end was great!
stunning location fantastic building pokey reception centre. focused on shifting product. a nice welcome and a taste would have been nice....we got neither.
excellent warehouse tour with Ian! nominate someone else to drive though. good value. If you are driving ask for pots to put your samples in to take home.
