Set aside a whole day for this trip. It can't be hurried. We plan for this day by preparing a picnic lunch, track shoes, shorts or long pants, sunglasses and hats, a long sleeved shirt or light fleece as well as a sleeveless T-shirt or suntop. We drive from the Little Current area to the Light House. We like to... 更多
After a long drive from Spring Bay to Meldrum Bay, we followed the non-sealed road to the lighthouse. The road was wide, and quite OK, until you reach the "no-trespassing" entry of the Lafarge corporation. After we drove two hours to see Te end of the island, found that it was closed. Evidently it is only open a couple months in the summer and no one decided to share that with us.
Even the journey was great. A really peaceful place for relaxing and enjoy a short break. Mississagi lighthouse at the west end of Manitoulin Island, Ontario, is an interesting place. Walking trails lead you along the shoreline with flat limestone ledges and enormous boulders. Stop to enjoy the lighthouse, and views of Lake Huron.
Fantastic photo opportunities on a blustery day. The changing light, the colours of the lake, and the waves crashing against the rocks, made for a memorable experience.

We were set up close to the waters edge with a good view of the channel. The Lighthouse Restaurant is not operational this season. The new hosts Jenna & James were... 更多
The scenery at this far west location on Manitoulin Island is impressive. The light house has some interesting exhibits but it is not well maintained if you climb the tower. There is chipped paint everywhere and the windows are terribly dirty. This was a disappointment. It could have been so much better if it was cleaned up.
