It may seem like a small museum but its a good layout with multiple levels offering very interesting exhibits and history on Appenzell.
A bit touristy, but heck, I was one! Bought tons of cheese and learned about the cheese-making process ad the region. In and out in 15 minutes.
This museum' collection includes folk costumes and examples of the very fine needlework for which the region is famous. On the top floor they have examples of the old methods of punishment for petty criminals, and some of the original coinage. On another floor they have a collection of folk paintings - beautifully detailed and colourful scenes of farm life... 更多

Appenzell in canton Appenzell Innerhoerden in Switzerland is my second favourite photographic town in Switzerland, right after Stein am Rhein. The 'fachwerk' houses (cross timber filled in with masonry) use stencil artwork to replicate the panels between the timber work. Eaxch building in the old town has its own motif. A lovely pace to visit for a day at leasts..
Interesting little museum of mixed stuff in Appenzell. Kinda like the town, a different twist but interesting odd stuff. Great that it is free and right by the TI office at a good starting place to walk the town. BTW in later Aug-Sept they parade the cows thru the town regularly. "Running with the Cows" Moo.
This museum is packed! But all very nicely displayed, and well sorted out in categories, from religion to textiles to hotels to traditions... definitely worth a visit to understand this unique part of Switzerland.
