We went here to escape the heat of the August sun for a while! Was interesting to see the outline of streets and houses and read about how this was found but then built on , to be unearthed again a few years later . Pity the other places you could see were closed though
The Museum in Badalona is worth a visit. It's built directly above the Roman main streets and gives a fantastic insight into Roman life in Badalona. The ruins are well presented with plenty of information.
It's just a great museum to go. It's a must! To see how romans built such a great city here in Badalona, their construtions, the way the tainted clothes and others and what they used, the sewage system which is just incredible for that time! And so many thinks! If you like history you just have to visit it!
In the Museum basement are placed Roman Baetulo city remains. You can walk above the streets while some sounds and lights and interactive audioguide recreate the city life. Communitary baths, gymnasium, and houses are sited in the original place with their original mosaics. What a little gem. We had no idea this Museum was here. It just so happened that we were browsing the internet, looking for places of interest in Badalona. When you first go in they give you a film documentary on the history of Barcelona, which is very interesting and informative, there is a few artifacts to see on the ground level but nothing too much to see. This museum contains more well-preserved ruins from the roman period than the History museum of Barcelona. The tour I tooked included also a boat tour between the port of Barcelona and the port of Badalona (about half an hour), tasting exceptionnal beers in a very, very special beer-house and some free time in Badalona which have a beautiful beach.
