Absolutely loved visiting the Mohnsee Dam for it's place in history. Lovely area and imposing structure. Well worth seeing. I travelled from Dortmund to Soest by train then took a bus R49 from Soest to Delecke. From Delecke its about half an hour walk. Make sure you get off at Delecke (the terminus) and head up the main road on... 更多
Visited in Autumn and was absolutely blown away by the beauty of this area. We only stayed for an hour but regretted not planning further ahead and picnicking here - we will probably return with picnics next year. We found it very easy to find and park at. Parking has a small charge. I was slightly disappointed that there was... 更多
Steeped in history, lovely quiet and peaceful area. Interesting to consider the difficulties faced by 617 squadron in 1943. Lovely walks and views. Ample inexpensive parking. Modest cafe and souvenir shop which didn't seem to be open for long but this was October, so out of season. Toilets a bit pricey at 70 cents but they were very good.
Arrived here on a Friday afternoon, having ridden from Frankfurt - the only day in a week of rain where we remain dry most of the day. Parked the bikes by the cafe, had lunch and then walk over the dam. This is a very peaceful place, not many people around and stunning views. Well worth a visit.
Last visit was in 1964 when you could see the area which had been repaired. That's weathered now and the other difference is that we had to pay for the car park. A great ares for walking or cycling and marvellous views. Amazing to stand on the dam and imagine the Germans view of the Lancasters roaring towards them. plenty... 更多
No matter the time of year the Möhnesee Damm is always worth a visit. You can enjoy wonderful walks in the area and there are many places to eat nearby. There's also a one hour boat tour which is quite enjoyable
Very interesting place. Quite a site and great views of the lake and the trees. I would like to return in better weather as it was raining when I was there and it was rather cold. Still a nice experience. I imagine it is quite beautiful in the warmer months and magnificent to see in the autumn.
Steeped in history, this dam is a beautiful place to visit from Arnsberg. One of the dams bombed during the war by the 'Dambusters', this place has a sad tale to tell - over 600 dead in the subsequent floods and numerous houses lost. It's hard to believe now - as it has a serenity about it. The cafe is... 更多
I was on a coach trip earlier this summer and spent around three hours in the area. A lovely summers 'day and a pleasant afternoon spent walking the Dam and surrounding area. now try to visualise the night of 16th-17th May 1943. That fateful night when the Mohnesee was breached by bouncing bombs. Lookout across the valley and think of... 更多
