As all monasteries in Sikkim, it's a very peaceful and colorful place. The kids are running to prayers, old ladies are lighting canddles, paintings are beautiful.
This was the most beautiful, huge monastery we visited in Sikkim. The location offers great views. There are local shops on the way and the monstery itself is the most beautiful thing. Amazing.
We had the option to go either to Ranka or the more popular Rumtek Monastery. We took a chance and decided to go to Ranka. The drive to the place is rough, with poor road conditions. The monastery is a few km away from Gangtok, must visit by hiring a car. You have to walk a few steps from where the car leave you. Cars can not entered in the campus of monastery. A lot of monks live in the monastery. Very calm and quite place. You feel that you have entered in the different world... 更多
