Great for stretching the legs. Walk from the bridge crossing along the river, pass the CBD, pass the harbour and out to the Whakatane Heads. Don't have to do it all - plenty of access points lets you set up the length of walk that you'd like.
A pleasant walk/cycle path into Whakatane from the bridge. I parked on a side street, there are several access points to the walk. Some interesting birds to watch along the way.

A lovely sight at night entering Whakatane over the bridge and look left to see the walkway lit up. Don't miss the lights in the trees in the Strand too. Great atmosphere.
This is a nice easy walk for young and old, it takes you right into town if that is where you want to go. It is lovely watching the boats come and go and also the birds.
Great walk in the middle of town even watched guys doing amazing carving in various different mediums down by the river, clean, great native vegetation along the walk, credit to the town
