WOW!! We participated in a hike up the mountain. 3 hrs up and two down. I didn't make it up. It was steep and I wasn't dressed appropriately in regards to shoes and coat. But, the distance I did make it was a spectacular view and unforgettable experience. This area is beautiful and offers insight into the cultural differences in... 更多
We spent one night here after booking by email with Aguas de Manizales. We went birding with an excellent guide (forgot her name but she speaks English) but what I didn't realize is that they charge more for an English speaking guide so be aware. Albeiro doesn't speak English but he knows the birds very well so be specific when... 更多
I have been to sub-tropical forests all over the world, and this one was particularly special. Amazingly easy to access, this magical spot has close to 400 species of birds. There are swarms of butterflies and hummingbirds and an almost constant sound of streams and birds. It is easily accessible from the Manizales, though a bit hard to find information... 更多
Once you have successfully managed the somewhat complicated overnight reservation or day visiting process through Aguas de Manizales everything is great. The effort is well worth it! This is a top notch birding location and the guide, Albeiro, will amaze you with his knowledge, patience and good humor. The house and rooms are simple but charming (mattresses could use some... 更多
Despite making a booking though our hotel they weren't expecting us. After some negoitiating we got in and had an enjoyable walk through the forest with interesting explanations about the plants and wildlife from our young guide. Certainly an enjoyable and informative couple of hours.
This beautiful place has more birds then some of the best places in Colombia, but you have to stay in the simple accommodation to enjoy it fully. All the fun is in the first and last hours of the day and the trip to get there takes too long to be there on time. Albeiro is a perfect guide, he... 更多
We arranged a guide and we made a 2 hour walk trough the reserve. There were a lot of colibris and a toucan species, allthough I thin you would have to go in the early morning to spot more birds. It was a very peacefull walk, surrounded by beautiful nature, definitively a recommendation!
The best place for birding, the people who runs the reserve are excellent an friendly, rooms are cozy, and the food is one of the best I had compares with other places. Lots of love to them
Rio Blanco is one of Colombia's best birding sites, and located so close to the city of Manizales... The chance to see 4/5 species of the highly difficult Antpitta family is the main reason for visiting: we saw 4, and our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, allowing us to claim at least 50 bird species over the course of... 更多
