Drove through Belgium to get here. As with other Commonwealth War Graves, it was beautifully kept. Park like grounds were so respectful of those buried there. Visited the grave of a relative buried there. So moved by the site.
My wife and I stopped by the Canadian War Cemetery after spending a couple hours at the Oorlogs Museum in Overloon. It was a nice visit after experiencing the history, stories, and incredible collection of prestige military equipment at the museum.
When you walk the cemetery it really leaves you speechless. The fact that it is set in a quiet...
We visited the cemetery because we were visiting the National Liberation Museum. Thankfully, we have no family buried here but as Canadians we wanted to visit so our sons could see some of the sacrifices the soldiers made
On the way to/from the Liberation Museum be sure and visit the cemetery for a moving example of the sacrifices that were made to free this country in WWII. Not as large as the cemeteries near Normandy, but impressive to be sure. Complements what you learned at the Museum.
