Scenic vistas with a variety of plants and birds, dirt trails and wooden boardwalks. The story of the "tonnara" at Vendicari which has been intentionally partly preserved is that generations of families lived out their lives at this remote site, fishing and preparing the tuna.
Quite a good area to walk around along the coat but there are limited shelters in which to escape the heat. Nor is there anywhere to buy refreshments. We had hoped to see some birds but saw none, not helped by the fact that there were no hides by the water.
Great place to visit and wander around. You might see some flamingoes if you are lucky. There are also some really nice sandy beaches without all the annoyances of city beaches. No amenities though so bring some food and water and you'll be in for a great day!
