we visited here on our way home, what a stunning location. The barracks are steeped in history, plenty info about the barracks, worth a visit, cant wait to go back with the kids
Looked at a few of the lesser complimentary things written about the Barracks and enjoyed the walk to the site. Road was open so no complaints there. Nice enough weather for this time of year and to my delight it was as nice as previous visits. The views, animals and birds of prey are lovely to see.kthe barracks are well... 更多
Walked to barracks from KIngussie, had to brave high winds, snow blizzards but also had blue skies. An old hanoverian fort built to keep Jacobites in their place, now a ruin, FREE to visit. Normall sits in a meadowland valley but when we were there it coincided with the bad weather which lashed Scotland and the barracks were surrounded by... 更多
We went for a little drive out here to Ruthven Barracks. I was surprised at the Barracks, I thought it would have been in ruins, but not so, the stonework was amazing, and it stood on a high hill, giving you a good observation point for the whole area. It's is well lit up at night
Had a quick stop on our way through Scotland, was well worth it to be able to see the barracks. Hike up the hill is a bit steep for anyone for whom that may concern. It is completely free, but can be a bit of a hassle to get to as the road it is connected to is not very... 更多
The Ruthven Bridge is closed this summer, making the site a bit of a detour to get to. It was so sorth the drive. We went out just before sunset, and explored the ruins and read the amazing interpretive panels. Then we sat and watched the sunset over the highlands. Once darkness fell, it was an entirely different site. Very... 更多
Nice views and very interesting location. Ruin still in good shape. At night the barracks are lit, gives a spooky view. There are lots of information boards, beware of the sheepdroppings. The kids loved to run around here.
