This is a ruin within walking distance of the Kingussie village. 30 minutes walk on road side path, some part of the walk is on a busy road (watch out for cars and horses...). The walk up the mount is bit steep, but its worth every cent once you reach the top. It offers a fantastic view over the surrounding... 更多
I have driven past this site many times over the years and often wondered what it would be like close up. Well now I know, and wish I'd called by ages ago. It was about 8.30am when I called by, there was light rain and low cloud in the hills about which very much set the mood for the place.... 更多
Nothing of particular greatness but nice setting overlooking the area. It's easy to reach if you are around the area, obviously for free and accesible at any time. Additionally there are a couple of descriptions about the Barracks and the related history.
No fee to roam about the ruins...I like history so Made a interesting stop-we spoke to some of the men Working to keep up the site so that helped as there are no guides.

As we walk closer we were suprised to find an old fortress on top of a mount. We discovered it was the home of 200 soldiers and was built... 更多
This looks very impressive as it stands proud on the hill as we drove towards it...There's a nice little parking lay by on the opposite side and it's free :-) There's a hill up to the barracks but historic Scotland has made this very achievable by a make shift path.... Everything is so clean and tidy and it's an absolute... 更多
