This little gem is highly accessible, and easy to tour. The ruins are beautiful, and the "new" part has very interesting displays, describing what life was life here through the centuries.
The castle is bigger and better than you might think by just seeing the tower from the town. A good Visitors' Centre, fantastic audio. Great for kids and adults with imagination. Limited for wheelchairs. Don't miss the Tudor room with date over the fireplace. If you can go to visit the gardens too, that would enhance your experience. Probably Spring... 更多

Only had a little time so as English Heritage members had a brief look around and will definitely return to spend more time there when we are next in the area
Unfortunately it was closed when we passed by but the external views made up for it. The castle was built in the early twelfth century.
