Soulages work is really mesmerizing. This time seen with early morning light it is more subtle in entensity but add depth in the thickness of the glasswork. A pleasure
Winding our way to Conques, along the twisting turning road, I hoped that this would be worth the journey. It was in spadefuls. Luckily we went in October so not too busy. Limited parking but we were able to park quite close to the village. A short walk from the road bought us into the square where Abbatiale Sainte-Foy de... 更多
Well off the beaten track, but simply fantastic when you consider how old and how remote this abbey is. The museum on the side with the treasure of the abbey is small and the treausre itself could be better lit within the displays. However, this is just a fantastic history lesson. A must if you are in the area or... 更多

In the marvellous Conques there is the abbey Ste Foy, that was built in the 8th centuty and later. It is a point from the route of the Santiago de Compostella.
Worth a visit when in Conques but not one of the prettiest Abbeys in France. The stainglass windows which were apparently created by a famous artist did nothing for me being completely without colour. The inside of the abbey is also quite stark with little colour and few side chapels. There is no charge for the abbey but you will... 更多
Well worth a visit to see the carved doorway, impressive columns and the treasury (charge). High on the cliff side, the cloisters and terrace give good views across the valley. Every evening there is a free organ recital, half an hour of sound and light which makes the most of the atmospheric setting.
