Well worth a visit to see the carved doorway, impressive columns and the treasury (charge). High on the cliff side, the cloisters and terrace give good views across the valley. Every evening there is a free organ recital, half an hour of sound and light which makes the most of the atmospheric setting.
Be sure to take the self-guided evening tour (12 euros/person) and enjoy the organ concert 9:00-9:30pm. Dramatic lighting, Romanesque architecture, sacred and secular music. The high point of my visit to Conques.

This is a must. The ticket includes a visit to the museum not so good. The treasures include the gold model of St Foy spend time looking at the stones embedded into the gold. Some of the stones have little sculptures inside.
This place has been mentioned in soooo many tourist guides and blogs. It seems to be a must but personally, I am not a pilgrim, neither a catholic, therefore I am just a simple visitor to this place.
