Great place to visit along with kids so that kids will know about Shivaji and his empire. One can hire guide to know more about Shivaji and this place. This is private property, taken care of by his 11th generation. Overall good experience.
The great history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is so well preserved in the ruins of the fort is a must visit. It is a brilliant site to visit... Must see!
This is the only thing you must visit when you are in Mahabaleshwar.Needs much improvement/remodelling.I think the government should do something for it,s improvement. But you must take a guide with you to understand the importance of the fort.
The picture on the Tripadvisor page is wrong. The Fort is located on the hills and is ancient and is certainly not blue! It is reasonably well maintained by Indian standards and offers a good doze of history. It is located on the old Bombay-Mahabaleshwar route but for history buffs it is still worth a detour and a visit.
A very beautiful fort . In the ranges of sayadhari mountain. Surrounded by dence forest. Has a very good location .The most beautiful is the temple of Bhavani mata . And Shivaji Maharaj statue on horse. awaresome food served .Like traditonal typical Maharastra in thali which is extra ordinary.loved it and enjoyed. Handicraft was super .Once should visit pratapghad.
one should have stamina and strength to climb the fort. Once there , the flag flutters in the air(Saffron flag) and the landscape will make you dumbstruck. A few more steps, you will find Bhavani maata temple, still up, Shivaji Maharaj Statue. There is a Handicraft shop on the top to woo the tourists. Over all a great experience and... 更多
It is quite a bit of a drive from Mahabaleshwar and used to be on the way from Mumbai on the old route. Quite popular with locals and with history buffs - it could be better maintained and advertised.
pros : Beautiful view Boating is ok ok Cons: Boating very expensive 700 for 45 min rider (4 person) Far away 1.5 -2 hr from mahabaleshwar
Pratapgad fort is located 20 odd kilometres from mahabaleshwar and is an interesting half a day activity to indulge in. has really interesting views of the valley from different places on the fort and the history of the fort is also interesting. would additionally suggest taking a guide along to fully understand the history
