Sudama Mandir at Porbander is one of the few temples (the only one I have visited) dedicated to Sudama (a mortal) who was Lord Krishna's friend. The temple has a beautiful mural depicting Lord Krishna washing Sudama's feet when his friend comes visiting him. The temple premises are very neat and clean. Overall a very nice temple to visit.
This temple should definitely be on your to-do list in Porbandar. Actually, the tree main sites ti visit in Porbandar, i.e., Kirti Mandir, Sudama Mandir and the porbandar beach are within close proximity to each other. We left our hotel at 5 pm and could finish all the three with the viewing of the sunset at the beach and experiencing...
This is a small temple with no great architecture to speak off. However as this would be the only temple you can see for Sudhama , this will garner my vote for a visit.
As you enter the temple on the left there is a beautiful mural of Krihna washing the feet
of Sudhama. We were there around the evening...
The temple is situated in the heart of the city. It was under renovation construction when we visited the place. More an average temple, nothing special in appearance. Those religious should visit since it is the only architecture dedicated to Sudhama.
We have been to several Krishna Temples in India and even abroad, probably this is the only Sudama temple.
The priest narrated many stories about friendship of Krishna and Sudama.
The picture on the wall out side the temple was quite descriptive.
