We were positively surprised by these ruins. Nice buildings to explore and climb to the top, pyramid with good view and a well preserved mask. Be careful to not miss some parts. First we walked to the left, where are 4 major buildings to explore. When we walked towards the exit a man came and asked if we have been... 更多
We visited the Becan ruins on the same day that we visited Hormiguero, Xpujil and Chicanna. Of the four, Becan was easily my favorite. The city's defenses are spectacular, and there are tunnels EVERYWHERE that you can crawl into. We saw bats and visited crawlspaces and got turned around in the surrounding jungle. You can still climb up the main... 更多
We visited this place during our round trip in Mexico. This ruined mayan town is not very large, but is one of few who had a moat around it. The architecture is interesting, with vaulted corridor still intact. Big pyramid of Becan is in good condition and is allowed to climb. On this site you can see also the famous... 更多
Of all the smaller ruins near Calakmul, this was far and away my favorite. The scale and relationship of the buildings was just magnificent. Be sure to go through the tunnel to get from the first area to the second area with the two pyramids. Don't miss this!!
After visiting the overwhelming pyramids and other public buildings of the Mayan Ruins of Chichen Etza , these small archaeological sites at Xpujil, Chincanna, and Becan in Campeche State were a treasure in their own way. For one thing, the monuments and sites are considerably smaller. As smaller, they are easier to explore and so to comprehend. They are also... 更多
If you're in the area, definitely stop at the Becan Ruins. This is a much smaller site than Calakmul obviously but really a great site. When we visited there was only one other couple there and it was well maintained and worth a couple hours.
We had no expectations, just wanted to take a break from driving from Bacalar to Campeche; it was wonderful! We were almost alone there and took a tour (approx. 300mxn). You can climb on many ruines (also very high ones) and take great pictures. The plants are also very beautiful and special there, the ruines are in the jungle. Total... 更多
Becan is a relatively unvisited site. It is unique in that it is surrounded by a moat and a series of wall. The buildings are in very good shape and many of them still have remnants of the original colors and stucco facades.
Becan is besides Rio Bec the most important archeological site in the Mayan stile known as "Rio Bec". While the latter is not really open to the public, and not officially accessible, Rio Bec is near a federal highway and a small village. The splendid pre-columbian architecture that can be seen, make it one of the best secondary Mayan sites... 更多
