Had been recommended to go on this and was so glad I did. The scenery is spectacular, lots of sheep, mountains and lakes. There is even a buffet trolley. What more can one want.
We did the Welsh Highland Railway trip on Tuesday 12th May and enjoyed it, we got a reduction as I have a Heritage rail pass, but it is a bit pricey. We did Ffestiniog rail way on Sunday 17th May before we came home. We enjoyed this one more
As a self confessed "Train Buff", the Ffestiniog Railway was on my bucket list to do and whilst travelling around the UK, my wife and I were able to tick it off the list. Even if you not a railway buff, the journey is great. Leaving Porthmadog, the train winds its way from the port up through the Welsh countryside... 更多
Went on board the west highland railway, the other rainy day. Absolutely superb, nice spacious carriages, with soft seats. A 40 mile round journey in gorgeous scenery. The food on board the trains is average but good. The staff are excellent, especially Colin, Howie and Alison who looked after us on our trip. The add so much more to the... 更多
A trip on this historic steam railway travelling through the spectacular landscape from Porthmadog to Blaenau is not to be missed! It is suitable for all and one child goes free per adult. The route has something to entertain you all the way as you climb – the estuary with its wild birds; Boston Lodge and the chance to peep... 更多
We took the train from Ffestiniog to Porthmadog , lovely journey and though I'm not a train geek I thoroughly enjoyed the experience , the staff were all friendly and attentive , lovely scenery en route ,if you're staying in the area it's well worth a visit
The last time I took the train from Ffestiniog to Porthmadog was about thirty years ago and very little has changed. I think the track is a little longer now but the spiral etc are just as I remember. We had a bit of a fraught journey going down as the up train had lost power and so we swapped... 更多
Booked on the May bank hols 4th, as timings gave more time in caernarfon, so we set off on the 2 1/2 hours trip from Porthmadog stopping at various stations on the way. Scenery was superb as was the trip but we gave ourselves 4 hours in Caernarfon which was way too long or the other alternative was about an... 更多
' " Heads, heads - take care of your heads!" cried the loquacious stranger as they came out of the low archway [of the Bull Inn, Rochester] ...- other day - five children - mother - tall lady, eating sandwiches - forgot the arch - crash - knock - children look round - mother's head off - sandwich in hand... 更多
This was our third trip on this scenic narrow gauge railway, that takes 2 hours to take you on a ride you will not forget, through the mountains passing under Snowdon. This time we boarded at a halt called Tryfan Junction, having walked down the Slate Trail from our holiday cottage. It needs a raised arm to stop the train,... 更多
My husband went off to play golf while I joined the first train of the day. We started from Porthmadog later than advertised but I was soon lost in the beautiful scenery and stunning views. Hidden waterfalls rivers and lakes were easily seen from the comfort of the refurbished carriage. I even enjoyed a refreshing cup of tea, while others... 更多

Travelled on this line from Porthmadog to Caernarfon with a group of friends last week. It was a wonderful experience. The scenery was majestic, and the food was very, very good (and the staff on board were most obliging and pleasant).
