Villa Finale is full of historical treasures. We had a very knowledgable guide, David, who brought it all to life. He was enthusiastic about the home, the owner who collected all these artifacts, and the history surrounding it all. This is a great place to spend a couple of hours if you want to get off the typical beaten tourist... 更多
San Antonios's population explosion strangely led to the purchase of this once elegant property almost fifty years ago and the restoration of the surrounding neighborhood, known as the King William Area, now a highlight of any visit to this thriving city. Much attention, love, and resources have been paid to every detail not only to the home the itself, but... 更多
I typically LOVE historic homes and checking out all the details of the structure, how people lived, etc. This home overwhelmed me. A collector of things bought this home, revitalized the neighborhood (yah!) and left his collection in the home. He actually decorated it himself. Sooo.....there are lots and lots of things in there and not necessarily set up in... 更多
The house was magnificent. The collections that are displayed in this house will blow your mind. Our guide was terrific! he knew so much about the previous owner of this house. He paid attention to the details and had lots of personal stories about the owner and the collections to enhance your visit.
We loved touring this home and hearing about its history. The owner was a collector, and very talented at finding great things. But the house itself is the real star - he restored it from a boarding house back to its original stately condition, and it's a pleasure to explore. The tour guides are knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
The section of San Antonio in which this house is located is worth a drive up and down streets to see the amazing variety of houses. But this particular one, Villa Finale, is remarkable. There's almost too much stuff in the house, but almost all of it is very interesting. The previous home owner had a wide variety of interests.... 更多
The King William district in San Antonio is a lovely destination for just walking around and looking at the beautiful houses - but if you have a chance to take a guided tour in the Villa Finale, don't miss it. It hosts the rather eclectic collections of an art lover who bought and restored the house in the sixties, triggering... 更多
The grounds and the house itself all are worth the price of entry. In fact, get a reduced rate when you see BOTH the Steves Homestead, 4 doors down, together with Villa Finale. Even though the self-guided tour might be a little cheaper, do pay for the guided tour ....as the other reviews have stated, there is a LOT of... 更多
This place has the darnest hours and I always seem to miss getting to take the tour. We were five minutes late this time. However, even when the interior is closed you can still tour the gardens and what lovely gardens they are!! Next trip to San Antonio I am going to look up the hours and be there the... 更多
This home museum was part of the Blue Star program, which allows military families free museum admission in the summer. We figured it was worth a look at that price! While it was a beautiful house and the grounds were lush, I'm thankful I didn't have to pay for the experience. We did the self-guided tour, and perhaps the guided... 更多
