This is a perfect place to take visitors and watch the sun set. It's incredible views and dense population of Sahuaro cactus is awesome for photo ops or a nice picnic.
The views for the top are spectacular, but wear your climbing shoes and a wide-brimmed hat because you'll have to earn it. As with all outdoor desert adventures, bring more water than you anticipate needing, be vigilant about your surroundings which means paying attention to the various cacti, and especially the virtually soundless critters lurking around. It's always advisable to... 更多
Gates pass offers some beautiful sunset views with hiking only a bit off of the road. I've been there a couple of times and parking was easy to find, there is easy hiking up to lookout areas. However it is a well visited area, so it's busy.
Get there before sunset because the golden sunlight lights up the red rocks. This is a marvelous show just before the sun sets. We went here to see a sunset and it was incredible! We had to hike a little off the trail to get a good view but it was the most incredible sunset we had ever seen. A MUST do in Tucson. No need to go all the way to the observatory or Mount Lemmon to see the sunset!
Nice easy drive from the old downtown! The road is windy and you can take one very nice one way scenic road to see the saguaro cacti. If you continue to the top and on the other side at the base is a another turnout. Both places perfect to see the sunset!

The last time we were there in March of this year, we stopped at the place with the gazebo and informational signs. There were forest service people there trying to take off what looked like indelible black ink graffiti on almost every... 更多
This is a must see in Tucson, takes you to the Desert Museum as well as Saguaro National Park. The top of Gates Pass is the best place to watch a sunset in Tucson.
This road from Tucson over the mountain to Kinney Rd is a bit winding for those afraid of that but the views from the car and the overlook are inspiring.
