What an experience! Highly recommend you tackle this this hike whether you live in the area, or are just visiting. My wife and I had planned on hiking up early in the morning, but we got a late start and noticed some impending thunderstorms forecast for later in the day. We ended up parking at the base of the Tram,... 更多
A grueling climb, but well worth it! The views along the way were spectacular. We parked our car at the lower tramway parking area and then hiked the Tramway 82 trail to the La Luz trail. All the write ups said the was about 45 minutes. I'm not sure if we were just adjusting to the altitude or just stiopping... 更多
Great hiking and nature trail. If you go from bottom to top and back down it will take you all day start early, spend no more than hour at top and come down. Take plenty of water and energy snacks. Rain gear also. Pictures galore when at top you will look down over all of Abuquerque and Bernalillo, and Rio... 更多
We parked at the La Luz Trail head and hiked to the Sandia tram. The weather was perfect..started out a little chilly at 7 a.m. We brought 3 bottles of water each, snacks, walking poles and hiking boots. Thought about wearing tennis shoes but decided hiking boots would be best after reading reviews. Hiking boots made it a lot easier.... 更多
This is a great opportunity for outdoor lovers to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and simply enjoy a peaceful day interacting with nature. The trail offers a suitable challenge for novice and experienced hikers, you select the route. It's a bit desolate so be sure to being along an ample amount of water, light snacks,... 更多
My friend and I started late in the afternoon so we didn't get to the top of the trail, but the 3 miles we did were beautiful and we caught the sunset from up high. Try your best to plan your timing for what you'd like to accomplish. I had read it's a difficult trail but I did not think... 更多
Having been going up this trail since the early 1960's, since before the tramway was installed. Now you have the option to go either up or down. The scenery is breathtaking sometimes spying some sheeps about you, Once on top, you can also hike to the second highest point in the Sandias, which I climbed from the East side also... 更多
I have hiked the La Luz Trail many times. Sometimes I hiked all the way up to the top of Sandia Crest, dining at Sandiagos Mexican Grill, which has excellent views/food. As a technical rock-climber, there are many spots off of the La Luz Trail where one can either rock-climb or watch rock-climbers climb.
DON'T TRY THIS IN THE HEAT OF THE DAY !!!! You might want to take a walking pole. The trail is very uneven. Take water and pace yourself. It a pretty steep trail but a great work out.
