If you have just come from sea level the about 9 mile trail might not be the first thing you should attack (7,000 to 10,378 feet in altitude). But the views and scenery are outstanding. And there is always the race up the trail in the first week of Agust for the intrepid.
La Luz Trail is likely the most challenging of the Open Space trails in the Albuquerque foothills...but it's so worth it if you're looking for a fantastic hike! You'll get a great workout & be rewarded with gorgeous views...as well as a grand sense of accomplishment for successfully tackling this amazing challenge. If you're from out of town, either take... 更多
The trails all over the Sandias are amazing. Most are in wilderness, all have great views. you can park at the bottom of the tram, take a connector to La Luz, hike up kind switchbacks to the top of the peaks, and ride the tram back down.
Of course it depends on what you're looking for, and La Luz gets 5 stars partly because it was the kind of trail we were looking for. We're in our mid-30's, and it took us just under 6 hours. Take AT LEAST 2 quarts of water per person. We had a... 更多
This is not really a trail for the novice hiker. Its 7 miles up and a vernicle climb of about 5000 ft. If you not in shape don't try to go to the top. Or better yet, have someone drop you off at the top and walk down.
I've lived here all my life and finally hiked the La Luz Trail. It was a little strenuous towards the middle, but so beautiful. So worth it. And as a reward, we had lunch and drinks at the High Finance.
