This not the best part of the Petririf Forest but has some interesting scenery and views. and is quite different to most of the park.Well worth a visit.
Surprisingly, when planning our trip to Petrified Forest I somehow missed this stop. Luckily we saw it on the park map and decided to stop. It says it's a loop, but we must have missed any sign for the turn around b/c we ended up at Painted Desert instead, 10 miles from where we thought we'd be but on our way to our next stop, Flagstaff. The colors are remarkable - definitely worth the trip

my kids almost gave me a heart attack here from getting to close to the edge, but I was totally not expecting the view. I about stopped the car in the middle of the road, fortunately this must be a constant threat so the paved in pull in areas. I could have spent hours out here appreciating the view.
This is not a difficult walk and the rock formations and colors are most interesting but there is virtually NO shade so beware if you visit in the summer.
