What a beautiful old home. I would put it and the furnishings/art, etc right up there with the Biltmore House in Asheville. In fact, one piece of art (I believe it was a painting) was originally owned by the Vanderbilt Family of Biltmore fame. I would recommend this tour wholeheartedly to anyone who appreciates beauty and history.
18,000 square foot home in Macon, GA that was built in the Italianate Renaissance style in 1855. It was way ahead of its time with central heating and air, a whistle/speaker tube system and a hydraulic water system above the home that held 6,000 gallons of water. The ventilation system was extremely forward thinking above and below the house. It... 更多
This grand home was so interesting to tour! It actually had different types of architecture, which was very thoroughly explained by the tour guide; was very impressed with his knowledge! The home had the coolest, humongous pocket doors, and even a large faux door which was very neat. Just some interesting things built into the home that you wouldn't even... 更多

This is America's history at its best. This house is truly a a historic treasure. Do not miss it on a visit to Macon. It is not a visit for young family but is wonderful for couples of any age.
Great tour of a great house of the Italanian renaissance. Hopefully you can get Sarah Hall as your docent. She is very good. If you are into touring antebellum houses, this is a must, since it is so different. So richly adorned. So big. This was a house of several very wealthy people and they put a lot of money... 更多
We bicycled up the steep hill and saw the beautiful fountain and small garden area. The tour allows you to witness beautiful artwork, exceptional architecture, and period furnishings. The tour was guided by the most enchanting and knowledgeable host - we truly felt as though we were guests. Not to be missed - spring for the additional nominal fee to... 更多
The tour of Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation"s, Johnson-Felton-Hay House is not to be missed. This four plus level Italianate mansion is stunning, the docents are informed and approachable, and the tales of the families who have lived here make each room come to life. If the extended tours or behind the scenes tours are offered, they are worth your... 更多
This house is not to be missed. I have been to Newport, Charleston, Savannah, and loved them all but this house spared by the Sherman march to the sea, is a true wonder. It is also a bargain compared to most restored homes. I loved the tour and then paid an extra $4 to explore all seven floors and the... 更多
The quality and beauty of this historic home will amaze any visitor no matter how well traveled.
