Touring Newberry, SC when I saw the road sign about Ninety-Six National Historic Site. Since I was so close, I decided to visit the historic site. This historical site is well kept and full of history. A must-see!
You expect that when you go to a historic fort in South Carolina that it will be a Civil War Relic but this one is not the case. It was a great walk with some interesting history included.
My wife and I visited on Thursday afternoon and the site was so peaceful. As we took the interpretive trail past the Star fort, the site of the village of Ninety Six and the site of Fort Williamson we couldn't help wonder what hell the colonial residents went through during the revolutionary war. This site is truly a hidden gem.... 更多
We lucked out. We stumbled in on one of the few days a year when there are reenactors there - it was real cool to see what it would have been to the site during the revolutionary period. There is a small museum but some nice trails that you can walk around on and see the whole site. If you... 更多
The NPS does it again. This hidden gem is about 30 miles off the intestate. It features a small museum and a few trails, some of which are heavily interpreted and others that are not. It also features the remains of a loyalist fort, a battle site, a log cabin (nice one), a mock up of a colonial outpost, and... 更多
We pass this place every time we visit our daughter and have wondered what it is about. We had some extra time so we visited the sight and boy was it neat. A one mile walk through woods and open areas on a paved path was so neat. Amazing remnants of our fight with tyranny and founding of this great... 更多
When looking through our NPS passport books, my father and I came across Ninety-Six, and decided to make the short drive from where we were staying in Georgia. We went in knowing nothing about Ninety-Six and left having learned something new and interesting. The site is home to a side of the Revolutionary War that most don't learn about in... 更多
We were staying at Lake Greenwood looking for something to do away from the lake activities and decided to visit the Ninety-Six NHS. We had no idea of this important battle of the Revolutionary War and the significance of Ninety-Six. The visitors center is excellent and the video was very helpful. The displays are fascinating! We took the walking tour... 更多
A must if you are a history buff! Lots of amazing trails to see forts, ammunition, mines, and much more! I was a bit worried, because it was a far drive out of the way for us, but it was worth the trip!
We visited Ninety Six on a road trip of the National Park Service units in the Carolinas. I grew up in the North. Revolutionary War teaching really centered on the big Northern highlights - Philadelphia, New York, and Boston; Washington's Crossing; and then they went south and it all ended at Yorktown. That really isn't all of it. There was... 更多
