Very interesting museum with lots of information about Greenland including famous explorer Knud Rasmussen who was born in the house.
Some of the exhibition rooms seem too crowded and could need a new display
If you ever make it to Ilulissat its a must stop! From the history of Knud Rasmussen to the story of the early Greenlandic peoples to geology and history of Ilulissat! Not many small towns on earth have a better museum
The touristic demand is obviously there. So please, in addition to the symbolic place of the birth of Rasmussen, arrange another museum showing more about the past of Ilulissat, its maritime connections, its natural patrimony and how people used to live there. Friendly people of Ilulissat, give us a chance to know you more. Thanks
The exhibition gives you a great insight into the past of Ilulissat and the life of Knud Rasmussen, who played and important role for preserving Greenland's past and forming it's present. If you have some time left, the museum is worth a visit.
I was there during my stay in 2011. It is the place where polar explorer Knud Rasmussen was born and raised. It is about Inuit culture and artifacts from the life of Rasmussen. You’ll admire the craftsmanship. It is beautiful, colourful and interesting. If you go so far north to Greenland, don’t miss it. It is really instructive!
