We were just taking a photo of the Blues trail sign outside and were invited in by one of the volunteer guides. He then gave us a most comprehensive tour with interesting stories and so much information . There is a wealth of stuff from documents to art work to tell the story of the many African nations and tribes who... 更多
Wonderful photographs and exhibits. The tour guide was enthusiastic and passionate about the museum. Blessed to meet Roy Lewis, a renowned photographer, who has an exhibit on display. He was very interesting and congenial. Great visit.
Amazing museum including history of hundreds of years. Informative and vivid. The tour guide was fantastic with much empathy and knowledge. When we were here they had an exibition with Roy Lewis - Everywhere. Beautiful fotos. Don't miss this museum!!
This proved one of the most affecting visits of our 2 week holiday. We were actually unaware that the museum was not open on a Saturday, but a guy sat outside invited us in (a small group was there by appointment). This "guy" turned out to be the museum's director (more later). We then had a fairly rapid, but fascinating... 更多
Have been here a few times but learn something new each time. It shows there is more to Natchez than antebellum homes and there is a deep and strong culture of African Americans - I was visiting the region for a music trip and was lucky to be helped by a volunteer who showed me much of the locals musical... 更多
This gem of a museum should really be visited by everyone. The culture and accomplishments of so many blacks/African-Americans/descendants of slaves (or however you wish to describe folks with darker skin color) is such an important part of history and leads to better understanding among us. From displays of every day life to learning about the incredible life of John... 更多
Amidst the usual plantation and home tours in this beautiful city, we decided to also partake of this aspect of Mississippi history. The museum is clearly a grassroots, community-based production. A curator and perhaps some weeding-out of the volume of items might be in order. That said, there are many valuable, important contents and we are very glad that we... 更多
This Museum is a must for anyone. From African roots through the slavery era, Reconstruction and struggle with the KKK and the fight for Civil Rights in the Fifties and Sixties and beyond, the Museum's exhibits offer a solid and proud history. Established by African-American families in Natchez, there are artifacts from many eras. It is easy to find, with... 更多
Quite an interesting collection of artworks and memorabilia. The docent was interesting. It is kind of like rummaging around in someone's attic so you don't know what you'll find. And Biscuits & Blues is just up the street. The two will make a good visit!
If you want to understand natchez go here. The guide was inspiring. The history is horrific. We should be ashamed that looking at antebellum houses built on human misery rate higher than this as the must see in natchez. It was a centre of kkk violence and I discovered here that natchez was taken to court on school integration in... 更多
