The observation points for the cliff dwelling pueblos are spectacular. Getting there up/down the mountains is a bit hair-raising, but the views were great. The museums are a bit dated but informative. Enjoyed our visit.
If you like history, archeology and learning, the Mesa Verde area is the best. But don't miss the Anasazi Heritage Center in Delores and the East Cedar Brake State Park in Blanding Utah. Have always wanted to visit Mesa Verde and finally made it. The park is easy to get to and easy to get around as all of the sites are well marked. Rangers were very cordial and helpful as were the volunteers and contract staff. Wonderful park full of history and things to see.
First, it's a breathtaking area, everywhere you look. And then, to see the ruins, and to learn about life thousands of years ago, and to actually be able to TOUR the ruins...incredible.
