Size is no indication of quality...so true here at Chimborazo. A small facility (parking on the street outside) with a great film and a fascinating insight on the Civil War period. Rather than the usual gun-fight battle approach of War facilities this is an intriguing and gruesome insight into the medical side of things. Makes you think "wow I never... 更多
This is a small museum but very neat and informative. The movie was interesting and all the items were really neat to see. There is a nice gift shop with lots of books to choose from. Worth a visit.
This museum is off in a residential neighborhood and is worth finding. This site is operated by the National Park Service and while small, is very informative. After viewing the medical technology of the day and reading about their methods, you come away with a new appreciation of the hardiness of past generations.
I found this interesting as a physician, but the site is quite small - just a few rooms in a building that was not part of the hospital - it is a newer building. Interestingly, nothing survives from the hospital. I agree with others that it is worth a quick visit (a half hour will be enough). If you are... 更多
Not the best museum around, but it is quaint and has an excellent movie to give you a sense of the significance of this site. As it tells of the medical treatment of soldiers during the civil war, it is very complete. Quick visit(took about 45 minutes).
If you are in the area and doing the local museums, this one is a must see. It is informative about the medical status of civil war war-time. The museum is very small...but they have some really neat artifacts. This was a really nice visit when put in conjunction with a visit we recently made to the National Museum of... 更多
This little museum is a must for any Civil War tourist. Just the idea of what the soldiers, surgeons and nurses had to deal with is awe inspiring. As a local nurse, I appreciated the role women played in caring for the sick and this is what pushed nursing as a profession forward. I was able to purchase some neat... 更多
First a disclaimer- I'm a physician and so civil war medicine is more interesting to me than it is likely to be to many others. That said, Chimborazo is worth a visit. It is located in a nice park with decent views of the surrounding area and would make a nice picnic spot if that's your sort of thing. The... 更多
We have seen civil war medical museums with more exhibits -- but they have a model of how the hospital appeared during the way -- and there was a volunteer there who was able to put it all in perspective. Very interesting -- and set in a lovely park.
