Just off the main street, easy to find and worth the visit. Lots of good info, some spectacular northern lights photos, and a well informed staff. A good place to spend an hour, and if it's raining......longer!
This was an hour well spent! The people working there were very willing to answer any questions we had. The best part was a film explaining all about the Klondike Gold Rush. To think how severe the conditions were for those desperate people.looking for their fortunes. So many died on the trail, I had no idea!
A nice little historical museum with basic explanations of most of the artifacts. There should have been more on the First Nations and deeper explanations for many of the artifacts and pictures.
Wonderful museum with many aboriginal artefacts as well as mining items, and a giant stuffed bear! Just two dollars and shuttle from docks will drop you off, then walk a block to Broadway and enjoy the shops.
Lots of antiques and artifacts. Many plaques with historic information. Some items to buy. The museum is free. Many pieces of art that were amazingly beautiful.
We found the Skagway Museum and Archives to be very interesting. It provided a great insight into the town and its history. It was well worth visiting.
Skagway is very compact so the museum is an easy walk near the center of the downtown area. You get a good overview of the history of the town in under 30 minutes. It is worth the short walk.
We really enjoy history and this museum has very good descriptions of how the people settled in the area.. It also described the culture and had wonderful displays and art work.
We happened into this free museum and the movie was going to start shortly. The movie was about 1/2 hour and it was fascinating! There are some other historical artifacts to see in this small building. It is worth the stop to learn a little something during your visit to Skagway.
