This is an absolute 'must-see' for adults and/or children...but not for toddlers, or children under 10..because it is not a play-pen situation it is a serious ecologically important endeavour..saving an endangered species. The tours are Monday-Friday at noon and 2 PM..it is near to the airport. One gets the sense of what it takes to be 'enterprising'...lots of learning here..but... 更多
People of all ages will enjoy this place . You will be educated on the seahorse and its life and the guides are all so good. You will top this all off by the incredible feeling when they bring over a seahorse in a pond and it attaches to your fingers!....how many people have done that!
We learned lots about seahorses in an entertaining fashion. This trip stands out as a favorite for us. We were shown the various tanks, and were able to have them curl around our fingers. We were also pleased that their efforts help save the wild seahorses.
I always use trip advisor to plan any of our family vacations and take other people's reviews seriously but I was more than disappointed after visiting this ghetto place. We brought two toddlers (aged 2) here and paid $42 dollars per adult to attend this 1 hour long tour. It was a young well spoken girl talking about seahorses using... 更多
First of all, what a great thing this farm is doing, protecting and educating the public about seahorses. But let's get to the point - you get to feed and hold a seahorse!!!! Yes, the $30-40 you'll pay for the hour-long tour might seem hefty given that you'll only hold a seahorse for about a minute or two, but the... 更多
One of the tours offered by our cruise ship was the Ocean Rider Seahorse Farm in Kailua-Kona. Being a long time fan of seahorses, I knew this was the right tour for me. The tour director was knowledgeable and gave our group an amazing tour. She told us of the history of this "only one in the world" seahorse farm.... 更多
This is the most amazing tour. You actually get to hold a seahorse! (or it actually holds you! You feel like you are supporting the program by taking the tour. Seeing the sea dragons were especially interesting, The tour guides are very knowledgeable. Don't miss this!
Our 7 and 11 year olds loved this tour. Fort that matter the parents and grandparents were awed. The tour is expensive $40 for adults but well worth the contribution which helps support the farm. It is so different than anything I've seen...and you get to hold a seahorse.
A great one-hour tour opportunity to learn about, see and even hold a sea horse. The admission fee may be a little steep for some but if you like sea horses this is as an intensive experience as you can get and the funds go to a good cause.
Easy to find and many tanks of seahorses. Lots of instruction and what a thrill to have a seahorse curl it's tail around my finger!
We have been visiting Ocean Rider at least every other year for the past 8 years. Yes, it is $40+ for adults for about 2 hours. BUT -- this organization was the first, and for a long time the only, group working to figure out how to breed seahorses for home aquarium use. It took years to get this right... 更多
Fun to visit with a 6 and 8 year old. Went as a shore excursion with NCL and was pricey for the length of time spent there. Too crowded; wish group had been smaller. Had difficulty hearing the guide with her portable sound system and they gave you a short time to let the seahorse wrap around your finger, due... 更多
Who knew that seahorses can be trained to be good pets? Visit this amazing place, the only one in the world as far as we could tell, and learn what Ocean Rider is doing to preserve this nearly endangered species. Well worth the entry fee, which goes to the preservation of the seahorses. Check for tour times.
This was our second visit to the seahorse farm, so we totally knew what to expect for our admission price. This place has become popular...the last time over 5 years ago, our group was only about 15-20, this time it was about 50-60, but no worries, everyone gets a front row view of everything on the tour! It's totally non-descript... 更多
Friends had told us about this place, but I was a little hesitant because of the price. To us, it was worth every penny. Where else can you actually see Sea horses in various stages of growth (you can feed them) and actually have them curl around your fingers !!! Very well run facility and extremely informative. Great for adults... 更多
