One of our favorite beach parks in Hawaii/the Kona area. When we visit Hawaii(almost every year) we go to Old Airport Beach park to hang out, collect shells, watch the waves roll in,eat a to-go /picnic,have a beverage or two, watch sunset. There is a walking path, picnic tables with plenty of shade. Lots of friendly locals.
The recreation area has a nice walking path kept up by a group of volunteers. Many people have mini-gardens along the path and grow flowers and plants to beautify the place. Once around the path is .7 Miles. You can see lots of mongooses who are curious and will watch you while you walk, and many feral cats.
I found this by surprise, one day. It's not Mauna Kea-gorgeous but it is easy to drop by and enjoy. You don't have to beat the crowds. It's nice for a change when you're in that part of town. Near Kona Commons.
You are truly driving into the old runway from decades ago when only smaller planes were landing in Kona when you go to this beach. There is lots of sand and many families have large gatherings and picnics here since parking is not a problem. There is a jogging trail among little garden areas tended by local groups on the... 更多
We stopped here to check out the beach for a bit. There is a sandy/gravely beach which is nice to settle into with some shade available further up from the water line. The water is pretty rocky though so we did not really try to swim or snorkel. There are little shallow areas which had kids playing in the water.
Local beach with easy access and lots of room to be alone. You will often find a Ohana party of some sort or even a wedding! I had been there half a dozen times before finding this gem just outside of town.
We have been here before and as always we love this area. The sunsets are truly amazing and easy to get to. While you are there take the time and walk the local garden area. So many beautiful gardens by local people, mongoose aplenty to see and beautiful local birds and Geckos! You just need to take your time and... 更多
The rocks and reef bring calmer waters to create tide pools perfect for kids to swim. Not much "beach" to sit on, especially when the tide is in. It's not a swimming beach as it is mostly lava rock, but there are places to dip into waist deep water. Sand is rougher and beach chairs are recommended. Many people come... 更多
