There are quite a few things you can do here so difficult to know what to highlight. Parking is free and in plentiful supply, Kid's play area is good, access to the beach is available from here, and there are some nice walks around here. Next to this is the aquatic center (reviewed separately) if you want some lane swimming... 更多
Although we have visited Kona several times we had never adventured over to the Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area. However since it was close to our condo this visit we gave it a try and were very happy that we did. The main runway is the access point for vehicles to access the park so plenty of room for... 更多
The sunsets here are the best! Easy access to the beach for seniors and kids. Locals hang out here too. Lots of picnic tables. Be early if you want one. Not a great swimming beach but there are spots and good tide pools.
The old Kona Airport is the site of recreation/beach area that is actually quite pleasant. The parking lot (built on an old runway) is quite long, and it is worth traveling all the way to the end to explore the area. The gardens on the east side of the parking lot are pleasant, but not spectacular. Still...if you are in... 更多
We love walking every morning for our daily exercise and the course (0.7 mile) is perfect for us because we love to look at all the colorful plants and flowers that is planted and cared for by volunteers. The time goes by quickly because of the scenery and on the other side of the old airstrip, there are sandy beaches... 更多
This park provides a long stretch of beach access. There is plenty of space for everyone. It is a rocky beach that offers incredible views.
One of our favorite beach parks in Hawaii/the Kona area. When we visit Hawaii(almost every year) we go to Old Airport Beach park to hang out, collect shells, watch the waves roll in,eat a to-go /picnic,have a beverage or two, watch sunset. There is a walking path, picnic tables with plenty of shade. Lots of friendly locals.
The recreation area has a nice walking path kept up by a group of volunteers. Many people have mini-gardens along the path and grow flowers and plants to beautify the place. Once around the path is .7 Miles. You can see lots of mongooses who are curious and will watch you while you walk, and many feral cats.
