We stopped by this park on a whim as we passed. We were pleased with the historical information posted along the trail. It provided some insights into life as a native Hawaiian in the distant past. It was a fairly long trail, but if you are a history buff, worth the effort.
We love hiking, but it appears, at least on the Big Island of Hawaii, trails are sparse, not necessarily well marked, and often parts are on the public property so it's sometimes unclear: do you, or don't you? This stop should be on everyone's list that visits the island. There is so much history on the Big Island and this is one of those sites. A beautiful walk and very relaxing and spiritual.
This trail is absolutely beautiful. On the part of the trail I was on it was super rocky and sharp. I was afraid I was going to rip my tennis shoes. It's not always will marked and you really have to watch the discolorations in the lava rock to stay on the path. Views are breathtaking as you're right beside... 更多
It's not well marked. The War Veterans Memorial is across the highway. When you see this, take the road to the beach. There is a little hike but not bad. The sand is perfect and their is lots a lava rock in the background. The was a lava cave behind us. The waves were excellent. Best place for boogie boarding.
