I am so glad I had the chance to do the mule ride down to Kalaupapa on Molokai. Book early as this does fill up. There were a few in our group who had wanted to ride a mule down (and up) the very steep hill with 26 switchbacks, but they waited too long and had to hike. I was... 更多
They began operations again a couple of weeks ago with a new tour operator at the bottom (it appears to no longer be Damien Tours and when asked the Damien Tours folks were NOT very nice about it). The new tour company which the Mule Ride contracts with is great, though. New(er) air conditioned bus, and we had a great... 更多
I made reservation for the mule ride on July 5th. After not receiving confirmation via email, I called back on July 11th to confirm. Seems the company is undergoing a change of ownership and will not have any mule rides during the time I am visiting the islands. They do not notify customers even though they had my contact information!... 更多
Unfortunately, this is closed down until further notice. You can still drive up to the look out and fly down to Kalaupapa with Makani Kai Air.
Our family of 5 talked about doing the mule ride for a couple of years before we made reservations for June 9, 2016. Upon the arrival of our flight to Molokai, June 8, 2016, as instructed, we called to check in. We were told the ride had been cancelled and that they were not able to contact us because they... 更多
Arrived today Monday 30th and have just been told they have ceased operation until July even though I received confirmation yesterday. Have made a very out of the way trip to Molokai to do this and when I spoke to them on the phone the were fairly unsympathetic. Way to destroy the biggest draw card to the island!!
Took the mule trail ride on a beautiful clear day. Not as frightening as I imagined. Only a few places where you are looking straight down to the ocean and the mules seem to want to walk on the very edge. Did not see a lot since I was holding on so tight and watching the mules step over huge,... 更多
We mounted our mules, followed the mule skinner who led the procession, then proceeded down the highest sea cliffs in the world. We were thrilled with the minute by minute changes of incredibly beautiful scenery and watched as the sure footed mules carefully picked their way down the boulder imbedded path. The descent involved approximately 30 switch backs - at... 更多
My sister and I, along with 10 other travelers, were very disappointed when our scheduled mule tour was cancelled when we arrived on April 19, 2016. The tour operators were very apologetic. They said they were unable to work out some conflicts with Damien Tours (the company that offers the tours in the settlement). They said they were likely to... 更多
