Wonderful old church. Very inspiring mass with an amazing choir. The rendition of "I Love the Lord" and The Our Father" was top class as were the soloists. Wish I could attend mass there every week. Many parishes could learn a lot from this one
Sunday morning service at this friendly Catholic church with a very young pastor rebuilding his congregation. The archdiocese sent many pastors to other locations after 2005 when they were needed elsewhere. Youth and elders alike can relate to the peace and strength he brings to this neighborhood. Believe me, this will be worth the visit. The sounds of the musical... 更多
We stopped by for Sunday Mass on our last day in NOLA. This church has so much history - do yourself a favor and read about it before you attend mass; you will appreciate where you are so much more! The parishioners are warm and welcoming and the music is outstanding. The mass was very spiritual with messages of love... 更多
No matter your faith this Church had it together. From the moment we walked in the side door, we were welcomed with genuine appreciation. The music was fabulous as was the Priest. The day we were their they was a baptism. So inspirational. Go and bask in the warmth of welcoming atmosphere.
We visited St Augustine Catholic Church on Saturday afternoon and were warmly greeted by Steve, an usher at this church. He gave us much of the history of the church and parish, and invited us to join in their Sunday worship service. The service was excellent; the music was energetic, and the homily inspiring. We felt very welcomed by the... 更多
The 10 am Sunday Mass will blow your socks off! It is lengthy but the music is amazing. The choir is accompanies by piano, electric guitar, 2 saxophones, drum set and assorted percussion instruments. As a lifelong Catholic, I can truly say I've never experienced a more joyful service! Free off-street parking available. Plenty of seating.
Very old church and very welcoming to tourists. The Easter service was 2 hours long but the music was fantastic. It was like going to a concert and church at the same time.
Beautiful church inside. On the side of this church is where you will find a cross with shackles hanging from it. This is where the tomb of the unknown slave is. Kind of takes you back as you approach the cross and see the actual shackles hanging from it. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words
Sunday mass was amazing here.. I'm not a church goer or catholic but if every service was like this I would become both! Priest was very engaging, and his sermon was full of humor and delivered a meaningful message. the choir was terrific. the singing of the Lord's prayer was very moving, and then they asked if anyone had an... 更多
Once inside, it is beautiful. This 175 year old building is the oldest African American Catholic church in the country. People were friendly and the mass was lovely.
