We are anything but your typical swamp tour! Our lead tour guides include a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist who has covered wetlands issues for 30 years, a former television producer who wrote for the only series covering erosion, and a former forest ranger and experienced environmental educator. Lost Lands takes customers out on boats or in kayaks to show the beauty of Louisiana's costal landscape. We also educate our customers on the rapid land loss occurring in the region and explain why south Louisiana is ground zero for global warming. You’ll start with an in-depth audio-visual education on the history of this problem and the proposed cures from award-winning experts. Then come with us for a first-hand experience into the beauty and peril of the largest wetlands ecosystems left in the lower 48 states. After taking our tour, you’ll understand why the wetlands are worth fighting for!

We were on a girls-weekend to New Orleans looking for something unique to do. LostLands stood out by providing an environmentally educational tour along with the beauty of the swamp. We really enjoyed the up-to-date information about the environmental issues facing Louisiana and our country. Then we embarked on a 4-hour kayak tour with our guide Chris. Chris was a... 更多

I was so impressed by the extensive presentation given by Bob Marshall and the obvious passion that everyone at Lost Lands has for the wetlands. The combination of the presentation (history, manmade damages from oil dredging and the re-routing of the Mississippi River and current policy) followed by the 4 hour kayaking in the swamps really brings the message home. I... 更多

After extensive research my girlfriend and I chose to go with Lost Lands for our swamp tour. We were not disappointed! Not only is it amazing to see the local natural environment from such an up-close and personal perspective on kayak, but the guide we had (Chris) was so incredibly knowledgeable about the animals, the trees and had the sharpest... 更多

My wife and I, who are not experienced with kayaks, signed up for a kayak tour because it promised to go somewhere cool with experienced people who care about the environment. It did not disappoint. Our tour guide, Dr. John Hazlett, was friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable with lots of good stories and a keen eye to spot what we wouldn't... 更多

We met at the guide's home for an educational seminar on what contributed to the disastrous effects for the wetlands & what's being done about it. Then we followed John to the swamps where we unloaded the kayaks and spent several hours on the swamps. The end result was serene, relaxing, calming, eye opening, and nothing beats being surrounded by... 更多

Our day began with a very informative presentation by Lindsay who has a boatload of knowledge about the Coast of Louisiana and the complexities of the tragic demise of it. We all learned a lot and hopefully can & will become stronger advocates for saving and restoring the most precious resource-our Coast. Our yak guide was Clyde. He did a... 更多

This is a chance to hear a talk about the massive problem of coastal erosion in Louisiana, the causes and some possible solutions to "stem the tide". Then we drove out to the wetlands about 40 miles from NOLA to kayak and learn more about the wetlands ecology firsthand. It was both educational and a fun way to burn off... 更多

Wonderful day out in nature kayaking through the wetlands. We first spent an hour learning about the fragile ecosystem surrounding New Orleans, the history and the possible future of the area. It was incredibly interesting to learn how the wetlands are disappearing so quickly. The guides drove those of us who did not have a car, and we spent about... 更多

We came to LA for the Jazzfest and had an extra day to explore. This trip was the absolute highlight of our visit. Marie and Chris were excellent guides and their love for and knowledge of the bayou filled the day. The equipment was great, the extra water they shared when mine ran out was delicious, as were the peanut... 更多

Take this trip instead of the normal tourist swamp tours, you will have so much information regarding the area - Marie is fantastic, telling everything during the trip. One of the best trips we ever tried, if we are coming back to New Orleans, we will take this trip again.

在Uptown / Carrollton的住宿

周围地区详细资料
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
