As a music teacher, I was eager to find the bronzed musicians on Bourbon St. and was delighted to find we could get a drink and beignets to eat while listening to an excellent band and look over each musician bronzed in their showmanship stance.
This is a good place for music food and tours. It's the only open park on Bourbon Street and the only place we liked on Bourbon Street. Our French Quarter tour started here.
With the chaos on Bourbon, this place was perfect to sit, have a drink and listen to some authentic jazz. The crowd was fun and it's easy to get lost in the sounds of the music. A definite stop to take a break from all the excitement of the street.
Personally, I think Beignets are over rated, and would never stand in Line to get one. They have excellent Beignets here, very good coffee, and live entertainment. Great spot to relax, and take in the scenery, with a nice clean restroom. The also have a bar for cocktails, beer etc...Check em out, and Enjoy!
Had lunch one day, just drinks another. Food was fine, drinks were good, but the real reason to go, and to return, is for the music. Live jazz daily, all day.
We stayed at Hotel Mazarin and this park was around the corner on Bourbon Street. There was music and food all day. Breakfast , lunch and dinner. Good place to rest your feet and have a great time.
