Few places offer the chance to experience the lifestyle of our ancestors of more than 150 years ago. The 1850 House is one of these rare places, offering a glimpse of middle- and upper-class life in antebellum New Orleans, the most prosperous period in the city's history. This furnished rowhouse in the Lower Pontalba Building, represents a mid-19th century home. Visitors encounter the stories of the Baroness Pontalba, the woman who constructed the building and the people who lived here in the 1850s.

This small museum is a nice way to spend 30 minutes getting an idea of what it was like to live in a house in the 1850s. There is a small amount of information outside each room across three floors. There are a couple of rooms which have stuff in but they are locked and whilst I visited, because of... 更多

I really enjoyed this house! It was a really cool stop off of Jackson Square. The house is self-guided and can be seen in 15-20 minutes, and admission is only $3 so it's affordable. I wish though that there were guided tours of the building. It would have been neat to learn more about it's history from a local.

Elegant decor, three floors. There are a lot of stairs, so be aware of that. Interesting historic house, beautifully maintained.

I wouldn't say this is a must do. It was somewhat interesting, but not outstanding by any means. It is right off Jackson Square.

One enters through a gift shop with some very nice items then proceeds to the house. There are a lot of stairs to climb, and the outside stairs are really steep. Some of the rooms can only be viewed by looking through windows on a balcony; others are inside and can be viewed as long as you stay behind the... 更多

This museum is very informative on Louisiana's history. I did not enjoy it as much as The Presbytére. I imagine that someone from Louisiana would enjoy seeing their state's history more than someone who never lived in the state. The museum had construction going on, which definitely dampened the mood a bit. On the plus side, this museum is relatively... 更多

This historic home has an unforgettable story to tell and the staff brought it to life for us. The kind lady at the desk took the self guided tour from our hands and made the extra effort to reach out to the youth in the group and bring the amazing story of the woman of the house to life and... 更多

We did a self-guided tour, however, they do offer a guided on in the morning I think. It took about a half hour. It is currently under construction so we didn't see every room but it is a great and reasonably priced museum to see if you want to kill a half hour.

This is a small museum consisting of one house with furniture from the 19th Century. It is interesting but only takes about 10 minutes to see everything. The cost is low and it is definitely worth a look.

Was very pleasantly surprised by my visit to the location. The exhibits were fabulous. There was so much more to it than I had expected.

在French Quarter的住宿

周围地区详细资料
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
