A visit to New Orleans' historic French Quarter would not be complete without a stop at Jackson Square, which is where you will find the Cabildo. On loan from the Smithsonian, the coat Andrew Jackson wore during the Battle of New Orleans returns for this groundbreaking exhibition "From Dirty Shirts to Buccaneers: The Battle of New Orleans in American Culture." This elegant Spanish colonial building neighbors St. Louis Cathedral and houses many rare artifacts of America's history. Among them is Napoleon's death mask, one of only four in existence. It was made from a mold crafted by Dr. Francesco Antommarchi, who was one of Napoleon Bonaparte's physicians at the time of his death.

One of New Orleans oldest buildings at Jackson Square in the French Quarter. Part of the Louisiana State Museums. Everything you ever wanted to know about Louisiana history.

This museum is a good introduction to New Orleans history but it is too old school with lots to read. Nevertheless I learnt a lot about Louisiana

This museum documents Lousiana history and covers just about anything anyone could want to know. I spent more time than I had thought I would, and I was especially interested in how many early settlers lost their lives because of disease caused by the climate and geography of New Orleans. If you like museums, this museum is worth the visit.... 更多

I spent so much longer here than I expected to spend - always a testament to a good museum, in my opinion. The downstairs has an exhibition on Louisiana history (focused especially, but not only, on the New Orleans area) from prehistory into the early 19th century. The second floor has exhibitions on antebellum New Orleans, immigration into New Orleans,... 更多

The Cabildo was a good way to kill an hour while it rained. In the old, historic building you will find tons of interesting things to read about the many different events and eras that shaped present day New Orleans. If you bring your student ID you get a $1 discount.

Treasures of New Orleans, Louisiana and the south. Worthwhile visit for all ages. Lots to see and lots of room to roam. Some items can be touched by the little ones. Quiet spot in what can be a noisy area. Very economical for family. Large tour groups can sometimes visit so ask when you buy tickets - makes for more... 更多

Museums are always a hard sell when traveling with teenagers. This museum was beautiful and located right in Jackson Square. It truly helped that they provided a scavenger hunt for the teenagers to help facilitate their experience. Without the scavenger hunt, this would have been a complete bust. While there are a couple interactive exhibits, it is A LOT of... 更多

Inside a classical building the museum is highly informative about the local history from the Indians onwards - teamed with the museum next door, you leave with a thorough knowledge of the area. One can absorb as much as one needs to - get a general idea or an in-depth understanding - we went for the middle ground! The Battle... 更多

This museum is amazing. Do not miss. The history of the region is well documented, presented and displayed. Multiple floors cover everything from African heritage to the French, from Native Americans to the Spanish. A real bargain and so close to apres museuming cocktails.

This museum has so many wonderful items that represent the history of Louisiana but it was so cold we only stayed a short amount of time. Even the greeter at the front joked about it.

在French Quarter的住宿

周围地区详细资料
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
