The Gallier House is a fabulous opportunity to experience and see what 19th Century French Quarter homes were like. Clearly, not all people lived like this, but many did. The home is beautifully restored and docents provide excellent and informative tours that bring the home to life. James Gallier was an outstanding nationally renowned architect, and seeing work of his... 更多

We visited the Gallier House on Tuesday after touring the Hermann-Grima House on Monday (there is a discount for going to both). To our surprise (and delight!), Docent Michael Mae greeted us. He had been our tour guide the day before. Since we thought the tours get busier as the day goes on both here and at the Hermann-Grima House,... 更多

The house is beautifully restored, but the true highlight was our tour guide, who provided loads of interesting context to help us understand the history of the house and its occupants. We were moved by the inclusion of the history and experience of the household slaves, and how that ultimately shaped the New Orleans we know today.

This restored house built in 1859 provides a fascinating view of life in pre-Civil War New Orleans. Built by a renown architect, the house has all of the most "modern" conveniences to include one of the city's first indoor bathrooms. Fully furnished, the house was decorated with black embellishments to reflect the local mourning rituals of the time. Our outstanding... 更多

The tour guide had excellent information on the history of the house. Loved all the architecture throughout the house.

This beautiful old home is only five blocks up from the Cathedral on Royal Street. The one hour tour is really informative and cover the home, contents and occupiers. See how upper middle class people lived along with their slaves. Very different to plantation life. A gorgeous old home and wonderful guide. Well worth an hour of your time.

Peter led an extremely interesting tour. Unlike some of the for-profit plantation tours, this one is based on detailed historical records that bring the Gallier family to life. The house is also beautiful!

If you are seeking a house tour that is fully decorated to show what it would have been like pre-Civil war then check it out. USD $15 per person entry fee and a nice comparison after seeing a plantation house. Also a nice way to get in out of the hear for a bit as fully converted with AC!

If you have time will in NO, it is always a good idea to visit these remarkably beautiful homes and to learn a bit about the history of the house and the people who lived in them. The tour started promptly and our guide was knowledgable and very sweet. She made sure that we were able to see everything, while... 更多

在法国区的住宿

A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
