We spent a large part of our day driving thru and sightseeing this wonderful area of Colorado, a lot of terrific photo opportunities are present during the drive.
The Dolores River Canyon is a beautiful relaxing drive and part of the San Juan loop drive. It is beautiful in every season. Side forest service roads are fun if you have the time. Dolores has a couple restaurants, but no much to eat otherwise on this canyon drivve.
Travelling by motorcycle is the only way to view the canyon. The road was just chipped sealed, so it was slow going, which was not bad at all. We just got to take in more of the sights along the way. The river views were amazing as it cascaded and bubbled along. The mountains...just incredible. Worth the route into Cortez,... 更多
Visit the small and very interesting, well done Anasazi Indian Museum between Cortez and Delores. Some interesting shops in Delores. Beautiful drive along the river as you continue on to Rico and Telluride. Drive it often when visiting in the area. Can spend the night in Telluride. Or plan a long day and continue north, east, and south again to... 更多

The canyon is a great place in summer time. Not so easy to navigate in winter and cannot get off the road in winter to appreciate the canyon itself. Beautiful drive!!
Love to go to the Dolores river and fish or drive through just to see the beautiful views definitely would recommend anyone to go.
This is usually the west side of the loop drive from Durango to Telluride. Although not as spectacular as the west part connecting Durango and Ouray, it is less crowded and interesting. In October the foliage was truly spectacular.
This was a very scenic route to get to Cortez. We travelled along the valley next to the river most of the way, with lots of stops to take photos.
