I'm not sure where to start. This was an absolutely amazing experience. As a home builder I enjoy seeing how homes were built many years ago and this was no exception. The history of the home is amazing. Period furniture, original portraits of President William Harrison, neat stories about life during the early 19th century....I could go on. I had... 更多
While living in Grouseland during the early years of the 19th Century, William Henry Harrison became a famous Indian fighter, frontier hero, and developed the national reputation that would ultimately lead to his election as President of the United States. Unfortunately, Harrison reached his peak of fame in Vincennes on the Indiana frontier. He has the dubious distinctions of giving... 更多
Interesting place to visit and learn more about the life of William Henry Harrison. Walk thru his Mansion to learn about the developing Indiana territory and what everyday living was like at the turn the Century. Very informative and the guides are very knowledgeable. Gift shop on site.
I have been to Grouseland a handful of times and find it fascinating every visit. For the past two years the staff has worked to build up the Walnut Grove Festival with vendors, both historic and modern, and fun activities... The festival aside, a tour of the William Henry Harrison house is so interesting! I'll be back...
Harrison's home was built to not only give his family a place to live, but it served as a government office during the time Harrison was governor of the Northwest Territory. The young man who conducted the tour was very knowledgeable, and I enjoyed the full access to the home. I believe the cost was about seven dollars.
Just an amazing home to tour and experience history first hand. We are so lucky here in Vincennes to have so many historical sites to visit and to be around on a daily basis. I f you visit Vincennes please don't miss Grouseland.

Harrison built this house to be his home and headquarters when he was the governor of the Indiana Territory, and when Vincennes was still a relatively dangerous frontier town. The... 更多
Grouseland was the Knox County home of President William Henry Harrison. The interior and exterior have been kept in good condition, and touring the inside is fascinating!
Owned and operated by the DAR, we were greeted at the front door by a docent in period-like garb. The tour of the house is thorough, literally from the lowest level to the top floor. Period furniture and objects, room usage, architecture and historical context are explained by your guide. The tour is not overlong, but it is thorough, as... 更多
