We had a fantastic time at our rented ice house. Though small, the ice house came with a wood stove to keep you warm (which it did!) and the holes already dug for us. It was a lot of fun and such beautiful scenery. We have also been out here in the summer time and it's a great spot to... 更多
Had the best time of my life here!! Stayed at the Hunt Memorial Cabin inside Chena River Recreational Area. The cabin and outhouse was nice and clean. There was a pair of fireproof gloves to move the firewood with. There was a saw, axe, water bucket, shovel, broom, tons of extra wood, paper towel, toilet paper, matches, and a lighter.... 更多
Our group of 4 took an afternoon to drive through the Chena River State Recreation Area. We stopped at Slough Lake (mile marker 29) to watch for wildlife at the end of a gravel road. Our favorite stop was at the Red Squirrel Campground (mile 42) where the birch trees reflecting off the lake was absolutely beautiful. We stopped at... 更多
A state park within a city is not that usual so this was an experience. It is on the Chena River and is a scenic spot if you overlook the amount of beer cans on the trails. A big bar is nearby. One night was enough.
We have taken our RV to Chena River Rec area several times now. Nice place, decent bathrooms. We will be back when they open back up in the Spring!
The rec area is a "great place to get away from it all" without going miles and miles from town. There are organized campgrounds as well as off the path places to set up camp. The Chena River offers good grayling fishing and several of the ponds in the rec area are stocked. There's a rifle range and rest areas... 更多
Enjoyed the Riverboat cruse and all the effort they put in to give you information and experiences. The village and guide as well as the dog sledging displays, airplane landing on river etc. One of the best tours!! And we really enjoyed the lunch they served!
We stayed two nights at the Tors Trail campground and did the Granit Trail. We had an amazing time, the campground are spacious and really clean, even the vault toilets. We really an recommend to stay there.
when compared to other places in alaska, this is not worth the visit. this is like any other park and if you have lot of time you can do hiking/ biking here.
