We have been here several times and truly enjoying going back periodically and walking thru the property. This a great place to walk and view the river. There are several buildings which may be toured at different times. Worth a visit.
We stopped in here during a small festival earlier in the year. Definitely brings you back to an earlier time. Our son liked seeing the older set up. It was a small, quick visit, but interesting.
I took my family here just to walk around we didn't go inside any of the houses but there is so much nature and beauty to be seen out doors!! Such a beautiful place! And I love the county dock right next door! Love to go out there to watch the sun set.
Check for opening times and special events. Picnic areas are available. The entry is free and the museum when open is free with a suggestion of a donation. The Mandarin Museum and Historical Society, a 501(c) (3) Nonprofit organization works tirelessly to keep this priceless cultural asset alive and available to tell the early history of the Mandarin area. I loved this place. There is not a whole lot to do, but they have wonderful spots for photography. It's nice for a few hours in the afternoon, and the museum is open only on Saturdays, from what I remember.
Great place to visit for an afternoon outing. Plus they have interesting events at times. Bugs spray highly recommended. Just a very interesting place if you like History.
We went looking for this museum. It is hard to find. Someone told us that Harriet Beecher Stowe had written Uncle Tom's Cabin here. The museum was closed during our visit, but we enjoyed walking the trails and seeing the restored landmarks. I particularly enjoyed the fishing pier on the St. John's River and the beautiful shrubs and trees.
Was out sightseeing one afternoon with my sister while visiting her in Jacksonville. She drove us to an old, out-of-commission boat ramp and parked. I'm thinking, "Why did she bring us to an old boat ramp?" but I played along. She asked if I wanted to walk out onto the fishing pier. We walked to the end of the pier... 更多
Love walking thru Walter Jones Park and the Mandarin Museum. The park is dog friendly, and it is especially fun when all the buildings are open - the museum with all the artifacts from The Maple Leaf, the civil war era submarine sunk by the Yankees! The farm house, barmpns and outbuildings which give such a good representation of living... 更多
