.....you need to know something about Eugene O'Neill's history and life. That said, this was a fascinating visit to the ho,e where he wrote two of his classics, " The Iceman Cometh" and "Long Days Journey into Night" The home's setting was beautiful as it sits atop a majestic hill overlooking a wonderful valley. The house combines an unusual mix... 更多
This is my special walk to place when the weather is mild and air clean. You can see forever in to the Diablo Valley. The tour is great to view the Tao house. Hearing what life was like in the 1930's brings perspective into life today. Tour bus advised for most. Enjoy!
Before deciding to go to this home, be sure to look online first to find out about open days/ hours, guided vs. self-guided tours, reservations, transportation (by shuttle from downtown Danville), and so on. Occasionally, plays are performed in a nearby barn by local groups, and this also can affect scheduling. The home of playwright Eugene O'Neill and wife #3... 更多
MUST have reservation except for Saturday. You need to be driven to the site by the Park Ranger. We had Tad who was prompt ,courteous and led a wonderful tour. The area is Las Trampas which means in the hills. The house has very little furniture from the time Eugene O'Neill was writing here but the pieces they do have... 更多
My friend and I brought our kids here on an outing. You have to take a bus from the San Ramon History Museum so be sure to check the schedule. I went here with a civic leadership group and spent the day doing arts advocacy development exercises. I kept thinking to myself, "How can I rent this out for my next birthday?" For anyone who loves art, literature, history, this is a perfect place to host a smallish group for a unique experience. I don't think they rent it out... 更多
I visited Tao House many year's ago now on a tour with my garden club. When I became a Master Gardener we worked a lot on the garden and keeping the grounds looking nice. This is well worth visiting.
Our group arranged to hold a meeting in the old barn, and then tour the house with the ranger docent. This is one of those hidden gems that while it takes some effort to get there is well worth the while.
An important site in the Eugene O'Neill world, this home in the hills is where he wrote some of his best plays. You take a park shuttle from the town below with a ranger, who gives the tour of the house. The view alone, even if you're not an O'Neill fan, is worth the trip. And since it's a National... 更多
